30-Aug-2009-Final Day at the YURTS

Terry contemplating our taking leave of the "Yurts." None of us was anxious to move on, we would have loved to have stayed there longer, but with the fires raging on the 120 just beyond Tioga Pass, we needed to take the long way around Yosemite if we wanted to see the Valley… and the long way was 3.5 hours! Just too long to drive out, tool around and head back. So we opted to leave the Yurts and strike out in the hopes of finding lodging beyond the fires.
As an aside… The dry grassy field you see beyond Terry, in the background, was filled with range cattle the previous night. SO throughout the night you could hear their cow-bells, tinkling and clanging. It really was "just-too-cool."
Thousand Lakes Yurts…A wonderful place to stay if you ever plan to visit the West Gates of Yosemite!

 • Our heat source and A/C!
 • The bunk, Twin over Queen.
Luc slept above, Terry and I below.
Matt on the Queen, futon.

 • Matt, just not ready to leave the comforts of the Yurt and the futon!

 • A too funny thing to notice…
See the metal grill along the left side of our door?
Well… That was wired in… The Theft Deterrent Security System! So it would be more difficult for someone to cut through the yurt and unlock the door!
Just too funny!
